Startin’ Point: Identity Exhibition

Initiated by The Place’s Changemakers producers as part of the Startin’ Point Festival, this exhibition is the outcome of a project which was devised by the Creative Learning and Education teams at The Place and October Gallery. Three groups of young people (14-24 year olds) from Camden worked with professional artists Georgie Fay, Gisela Torres and Francesca Centioni Dene, to create their own pieces of autobiographical art, inspired by the work of three professional artists who have exhibited at October Gallery: Eddy Kamuanga Ilunga, Alexis Peskine and Julien Sinzogan. The participants explored their own personal Startin’ Points, in terms of heritage and culture, and they’re aspirations for their futures. This exhibition is the collective creative expression of where they’re from, where they are, and where they’re going.
